The Beauty of Rare Conditions
The Rare Disease Foundation was established in 1999 and has since served over 280 types of rare diseases. Starting in 2003, the foundation's Taipei headquarters began organizing the [Rare Disease Creative Art Class] with the goal of creating a platform where individuals with rare conditions can express themselves. This initiative helps patients and their families develop personal interests, build relationships, and gradually reconnect with society.
Although paintings and artworks do not speak, they quietly soothe many wounded hearts and inspire countless admirers. Through learning and pursuing [beauty], patients illuminate a glimmer of hope and express the deepest emotions within them. These genuine and profound feelings are transformed into patterns and colors, conveying the dignity and value of life, seeking recognition and acceptance.
With the passage of time, many traditional Chinese folk cultures have gradually disappeared and faded. This year, the foundation is leading patients across the generational gap through painting, helping them learn about and experience traditional Chinese culture and folk arts that are now rarely seen.
